People on both sides of a duplex in DeWitt Township escaped a fire Monday night. Firefighters from DeWitt and Delta Townships put out the fire at a home on Parkwood Drive, near the corner of Schavey and Clark Roads. Investigators haven't figured out what started the fire yet. Neighbors on one side of the duplex thought they smelled something, but didn't know there was a fire until the people on the other side told them to get out. Stay with News 10 and for more details as they become available.

I heard the cause of the fire was an off duty cop accidentally parking his car in the living room of the one unit. He was heading for the garage but alas, his foot slipped off the brake. Those silly boys better get new shoes......
