The owner of the Ambassador Bridge connecting Detroit and Windsor, Ontario, says Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder "should be stopped" in his efforts get a new bridge built.
Detroit-area billionaire Manuel "Matty" Moroun tells the Detroit Free Press for an interview published Wednesday that the Republican governor is "doing the wrong thing." Moroun says the planned bridge backed by Snyder and others would kill jobs in Michigan, notably those at Moroun's own companies.
Snyder announced during his State of the State address that he backs the project. Lt. Gov. Brian Calley says the Moroun family's recent high-profile efforts against the project cannot stop it.
Moroun has been battling government entities in the United States and Canada for several years while seeking to build his own second span across the Detroit River.
