In court on Thursday, prosecutors painted a picture of the crime scene. while family and friends of McCowan and Singler listened to testimonies, some visibly emotional.

Tyler Aho, the roommate of Singler and Singler's girlfriend, Shay McCowan, testified first. Aho says Singler and Connor McCowan were good friends with a brother-like relationship. On February 23rd, the day Singler was killed, Aho said Singler was intoxicated and distraught and couldn't reach Shay McCowan by phone. In the hours before his death, Singler exchanged multiple heated text messages with Connor McCowan, who was also exchanging texts with his sister.

One text sent from Singler to Connor McCowan said "You lost your chance to help, go to sleep little dancer, tell your sister I've tried calling."

Another message sent from Shay McCowan to her brother said "Andrew just broke one of my ribs."

Prosecutors say McCowan did not have broken ribs. At around 4 a.m., Connor McCowan showed up at Singler's apartment with a knife in hand. Aho says he attempted to keep the two apart but failed. He testified that Singler punched McCowan in the face before McCowan stabbed Singler several times in the chest.

A forensic pathologist took the stand last on Thursday and confirmed the extent of the injuries. The judge said there's enough evidence to send the case to trial.
