JACKSON, Mich. (AP) A 20-year-old man facing life in prison for killing a Michigan State Police trooper wrote notes of despair before he was found hanging in his cell.
Some records from the investigation of Eric Knysz' death have been released to the Muskegon Chronicle. The newspaper reports that Knysz asked for God's forgiveness and wrote that his life was over at a young age.
Knysz was taken off life-support at a Jackson hospital on April 17, three days after he was discovered hanging in his cell. State police say it was clearly a suicide attempt.
Knysz was given a no-parole sentence the previous week for the fatal shooting of Trooper Paul Butterfield II in northern Michigan's Mason County. Butterfield was killed during a traffic stop last September.
