Niowave & Neighbors Come to Agreement Over Building

  "After a year of intense LEAP-led negotiations between Niowave and Walnut Neighborhood Organization, LEAP is pleased to announce an agreement between the two parties," said Bob Trezise, President and CEO of LEAP in a press release. "Once again, this agreement shows the power of the Lansing community to solve problems and build for the future."

LANSING - Niowave Inc., and members of the Walnut neighborhood have come to an agreement over a building that some in the neighborhood considered an eyesore. Niowave has agreed to construct a new facade on its 14,000 square foot building in the 1000 block of N. Walnut Street. They will also make changes to the landscaping. Niowave will spend $120,500 in the improvements. The city of Lansing will also chip-in. The Lansing Brownfield Authority which is managed by Lansing Economic Area Partnership (LEAP) will contribute $123,600 from its local site remediation revolving fund.

The building serves as a research facility for Niowave. It is located next to the former Walnut Street School, and was dedicated in July 2012.
