MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- Police in New York have arrested a man who matches the description of a suspect in the stabbing of a 69-year-old suburban Detroit woman.
Police didn't immediately release the man's name. The Detroit Free Press reported he was arrested in Tarrytown, N.Y., following a chase involving police in New York and New Jersey. The newspaper said the man was driving a car stolen from Grosse Pointe Farms.
Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham says the man is expected to be returned to Michigan to face charges.
Wickersham says the man matches the description of a suspect who kicked in the door of a Macomb woman's home. Police who responded to her 911 call found her with stab wounds. Wickersham says she survived following surgery.
