More Former Patients Come Forward

Lansing Detective Vicki Nevins has been fielding phone calls for the past few days. As of Wednesday, it's been about two dozen calls from former patients, parents of patients and employee.s

"At this point these are just allegations and we have to investigate those before we can take them to the prosecutor," said Det. Nevins.

Police say they have two solid complaints from former patients who claim they were assaulted when they were just children in Racette's Lansing dental practice. The oldest complaint is from nearly forty years ago.

"There are statues of limitations that apply to physical abuse in our state. Some of our calls we're getting are from people who were patients in the 1970's so of course those are things we have to look into and discuss with the prosecutor's office."

More and more people are coming forward saying that Dr. Racette either physically or sexually them right here in this office. And as of last week, Dr. Racette was treating children, practicing part-time at his office in Mount Pleasant

"It's disturbing that it may have been going on for several decades. We're still fielding phone calls from people making allegations against Racette. We're looking for more victims."

If you believe that you are a victim or if you have any information that would help detectives in this case, you are urged to call the Lansing Police Department.

Unfortunately i was a patient in the late 80s early 90s. He should NOT have had children as patients! To this day I have severe panic attacks anytime i have to go to the dentist, and it is due to how I was treated by Racette. He was mean, he would threaten his patients into submission or humiliate them for crying when they were scared, he pulled teeth without numbing me first, and apparently he didnt understand when I told him to stop touching me and tickling me. I cannot stand this man and if he did what he is accused of, I hope justice is served!

I was a patient of Dr Reverted for a four year period and in those four years it was nothing but bad. Dr Recette would have come back once a month and drill my teeth with no shots and was very mentally abbusive. To this day I fear going to the dentist! When he was mentally abbusive he would tell me not to tell my dad or bad things would happen. I stress to anyone who was abbused by this man please come foward it took me almost 30 years to do so please help to put this man away!!!!

I understand there is a long history of abuse. Isn't this type of abuse is what one would think of a pedafile would do? I hope justice is served, the scales of justice are balanced, the children past and present are protected. Protect our children -- don't let some statute of limitations argument leave our children victimized.
