Michigan treasury officials are preparing to kick off a public campaign to promote a tax amnesty program.
The program will be detailed Tuesday.
The tax amnesty program was approved by state lawmakers in the last legislative session. It's expected to run from May 15 through June 30.
It will be available for some individual and business taxpayers covering return periods that ended on or before Dec. 31, 2009. Some of the taxes covered include the income tax, the sales tax and the Michigan Business Tax
Penalties would be waived for those who pay their taxes and interest through the program.
