The Michigan Senate has unanimously approved a bill to require local governments to buy U.S.-made American flags and flag holders for veterans' grave sites if those flags are competitively priced with non-U.S.-made products.
The bill that passed without debate Wednesday says that if a community chooses a less-expensive non-U.S.-made flag, it must post that fact on its website.
According to the Detroit Free Press (http://on.freep.com/154vZTb ), an analysis of the bill says that "to honor these deceased veterans appropriately, the flags and flag holders should be manufactured and assembled in the United States."
The bill now goes to the state House for consideration.f
