Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero will not be home for Thanksgiving, because he's in Italy. The mayor and his wife flew to Italy Thursday night for an economic development conference in Torino, Italy. There he will meet with key manufacturers and have private meetings with business leaders. Deputy Chief of Staff Randy Hannan says, "We're cautiously optimistic the mayor will return with good news for Lansing." Hannan couldn't provide any details. Mayor Bernero and his wife will return the weekend after Thanksgiving. Hannan says no taxpayer dollars are being used for this trip.
