A report released today by the Green Oak Township police department says marijuana was detected in the blood of 18-year-old Matt Kolstoe.
Kolstoe was driving a Prius on October 10 on US 23 just north of Ann Arbor when the car suddenly went out of control, crossed the median and struck an oncoming SUV, head-on.
Two passengers in the Prius were also killed. 19 year old Heather Comstock and 18 year old Sarina Seger. 18 year old Humphrey Petersen-Jones survived. All were recent Okemos High School graduates.
Two people in the SUV were killed. Three young passengers were injured, but survived. All were from Ohio.
The report says the investigation didn't find anything wrong with the Prius and doesn't blame marijuana use as a cause of the accident. It does say that the speed of the Prius is a contributing factor of the crash.
