BAY CITY, Mich. (AP) -- A man who authorities say posted a message on Craigslist promising "a good time" if callers asked for a Bay County bar employee has been sentenced to eight months of probation.
The Bay City Times reports a judge on Tuesday also ordered 52-year-old Stephen C. Laymon of Bay County to undergo a psychiatric evaluation. He was charged in September with a felony of unlawfully posting a message in September and pleaded no contest to a lesser misdemeanor.
A no contest plea is not an admission of guilt but is treated as such for sentencing.
Defense lawyer Jason P. Gower says his client is "adamant" about his innocence. Gower calls the message "a practical joke gone bad" and says it was the electronic equivalent of writing something on the bathroom wall.
