MSU Expands Medical Partnership with Cuba

Michigan State University medical students will have the opportunity to study in Havana to learn about Cuba's health care system.
The two-week course "Community Health and Cuban Culture" is expected to begin in May 2014. It will be open to medical, nursing, public health and health science students.
The Cuban Health Ministry recently approved the course.
Michigan State students will be placed in a Havana teaching hospital and community clinics to learn how Cuba's health care system works. Michigan State will work with Escuela Nacional de Salud Publica, a center for tropical medicine and public health.
The university has a study abroad program in Cuba with the University of Havana.
Michigan State faculty recently traveled to Havana to discuss other future partnerships, like research collaboration.
