Liebler Named East Lansing Police Chief

EAST LANSING - The City of East Lansing has chosen a familiar face for its new police chief. East Lansing City Manager Theodore Staton announced Wednesday that he is appointing Deputy Chief Julie Liebler to be the new chief effective immediately.
Liebler has been acting as the head of the department since Tom Wibert left the post this past November.
Liebler joined the force in 1987, and became deputy chief in 2006.
Liebler was among four finalists for the job, including Ingham County Sheriff's Office Undersheriff Allan Spyke, Muskegon Director of Public Safety Anthony Kleibecker, and Novi Assistant Police Chief Victor Lauria.

Does anyone realize Liebler doesn't manage any officers? She has been in parking enforcement and then had to be moved to administration because she was so bad at managing people and caused problems. Now she is going to manage everyone? Unbelievable......

3 great candidates and the manager picks the interim chief who has no real policing experience or people skills? Did all the other candidates turn down the job?
