The Michigan Supreme Court wants to hear arguments to determine if a Lansing judge appointed in the final days of 2010 can keep his job.
The attorney general's office says Hugh Clarke Jr.'s appointment to the Lansing District Court should have expired on Jan. 1. He was picked to follow Amy Krause, a judge promoted to the Michigan appeals court.
The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear the case Tuesday. Clarke's lawyers say he's entitled to stay in office and face election in 2012.
