The Lansing school board is expected to vote during their meeting Thursday to privatize their transportation in hopes of saving the district around $5 million over the next five years.

Lansing would join the ranks of East Lansing, Dansville, and Webberville in using the Ingham Intermediate School District's consortium agreement if the measure is approved.

The Lansing school board meeting will be at 6:30 in the board room at the district's administration building.

A protest by AFSCME Council 25 members, the union which represents Lansing's bus drivers, is planned for 5:30 in front of the administration building.
