Lansing Area Businesses Feeling Impact of Construction

Numerous construction projects around the Lansing and East Lansing area are putting a damper on what are typically already slower months for businesses with students gone.

Projects along M-43 Grand River Ave. in downtown East Lansing and roadwork along Lake Lansing Road and U.S. 127 are among several roadwork projects underway this summer.

Manager of Modern Skate and Surf in East Lansing, Eric Schmidt, said he recently moved his business from Frandor to downtown East Lansing shortly before construction began.

Schmidt said he's felt the effects of the construction and he's heard from customers about the hassles they've had to deal with to get to his business.

Tonight on News 10 at 6, we'll tell you what local businesses in those areas are doing to cope with the orange barrels and when some of those projects are expected to be completed.
