The beaches in South Haven were closed earlier this week, due to high levels of e-coli in the water.
The beaches were closed after testing Wednesday showed higher than acceptable levels of e-coli in the water. The Van Buren county environmental health division issued a "no body contact advisory" Thursday for both the north and south beaches.
It's not clear why the e-coli levels are higher, but according to a report from WOOD TV, it may be tied to ground water from the rain South Haven got earlier this week.
The health department re-tested the water this morning. The north beach has been reopened. The south beach still has an advisory and will remain closed for weekend until further testing can be done next week.
