Judge Could Overturn Michigan's Gay Marriage Ban

DETROIT (AP) -- A lesbian couple's desire to adopt each other's children has grown into a potentially groundbreaking challenge to Michigan's ban on same-sex marriage.
April DeBoer adopted a girl, and her partner Jayne Rowse adopted two boys. But Michigan law prevents them from adopting each other's children.
The two Detroit-area nurses filed a lawsuit to try to overturn the state's prohibition on adoption by same-sex partners. But federal Judge Bernard Friedman invited them to expand their case and take aim at the constitutional ban on same-sex marriage.
Arguments are set for Thursday in a Detroit law school.
If Friedman strikes down the gay marriage ban, supporters say gay couples could marry and acquire other rights, including adoption.
State officials, however, predict "potential legal chaos" if the judge throws out the ban.

The Judge that encouraged them to expand the law suit, be removed from office. It is not his place, or duty to suggest this.

So really WHY VOTE anymore??? if the votes of the people make no difference? lets just give up our rights and submit to what the establishment feels is the "BEST" for us. (thats where we are heading...anyways...) or freedom to speak, and freedom to choose is going to be extinct soon enough if the GOVT has their way about it)

To Name Location: Location on Mar 8, 2013 at 04:53 PM; You kinda juggled your so called facts. What comic book did you get those "Homosexual facts from? Try reading this and this is not from Fox news: http://www.unh.edu/sociology/media/pdfs-journal2012/P12_Schaaff.pdf I read it and it is boring. Let me save you some time just go down to the summary and read the facts that shoot yours down. Sounds to me like you might have an agenda. Just google suicide rates between heterosexuals and gays and spend some time reading, then get back to us.

To Name Location: Location on Mar 8, 2013 at 04:53 PM: In this line of thinking, let me also suggest this: even though Jesus didn’t say anything in the gospels, He did speak out against homosexuality elsewhere in the Bible (Leviticus, Romans, 1 Corinthians). If Jesus is God, then the words God spoke, Jesus spoke (John 1:1-3, 2 Timothy 3:16) – plain and simple. His silence about this one issue speaks aloud in other areas. For instance, Jesus upholds marriage (and sexual relationships) as being between one man and one woman (Mark 10:5-9). He understood the marriage vow to be sacred between two people and God, and not a means to end in divorce. One convoluted argument that I've heard is "that Jesus never spoke specifically against homosexuality". Well, Jesus never spoke specifically against murder either, but is there anyone who believes that murder is acceptable because Jesus never spoke specifically about it? I think most of us would say "no". And in Jude 1:7: "In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire." You're are in denial to try that lame argument!

I agree with Jason. People are too busy trying to tell other people how to live and it is up to them who they want to have a relationship with as long as they are of legal age; it doesn't effect me.

This is for the person wanting bible sources condeming homosexuality. Lev 18:22-23 "You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination." Lev 20:13 "If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death." 1 Cor 6:9 "Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals" 1 Tim 1:9-10

No name from 3/7/13 4:16pm says it does not affect her or her marriage and family. Would it affect your family if your husband ran off with another man, divorcing you and marrying him? It happens more than you think and I would be watching your husband very closely. Then get back to us about the strength of yout marriage.

May I ask why the comments I left early this morning about this couple were not published. They were on topic, not inflammatory. I addressed no one.Used no foul language. I called no one out of their names, yet you have published someone who is off topic, talking about disease, calling names and you have published another arguing with him.Everything against your rules My comment would have provoked thought not mere emotion as the comments you have published since mine have.I've waited to see it published and to see what would follow, to no avail. If you could send me an email explaining why, I'd appreciate it

Terry T, you are an illiterate and you ignore factual studies from credible sources (i.e. NOT Conservapedia and NOT Fox News) that show gay families do not harm children, that having gay parents isn't damaging, that heterosexual Black women actually have higher new infection rates of HIV/AIDS than all homosexuals (and Black males have higher rates of transmission of the disease), that the suicide rates are actually lower than they are for the hetero population, and that there no literally no nations that have been destroyed because of homosexuals. Show me in the Bible (which is what you use to condemn gays) where Jesus spoke again homosexuals.

Once again, the homosexual activists of WILX news present the view that the concocted living arrangements between mutually predatory homosexual individuals are a reasonable alternative to wholesome and responsible union of genuine marriage. Clearly they are not. Aside from the obvious plumbing issues, twisted homosexual activity has been the cause of disease and social destruction in numerous nations over past decades of such pandemic proportions that the entire family structure of some of those nations has been entirely destroyed leaving tens of thousands of young children orphaned and alone. Homosexual activity has been been demonstrated unequivocably to be dangerous to practitioners with a dramatically shortened life expectancy, suicide rates through the roof, and a prime promoter in the transmission of deadly disease. The notion that conscription of vulnerable children into this deadly environment, where dangerous self serving adult behavior is enshrined as other than the immense social evil that it is, is beyond irresponsible as is the gleeful promotion of this behavior and these illegitimate unions by this station.
