A man and woman have been charged with making meth in a building in downtown Lansing.

32-year-old Eric Welch and 31-year-old Amanda Wagner, both of Lansing, are charged with Controlled substance - Operating/maintaining laboratory involving Methamphetamine, a felony.

Welch is also charged with Habitual Offender, fourth offense. According to state records, Welch served time in 2003 for Controlled Substance-Imitation Manufacture or Distribution and was convicted of Operating Intoxicated/Impaired/Controlled Substance - 3rd offense in 2010.

Lansing police thought they were responding to a break-in at the Insurance Institute of Michigan in downtown Lansing early Thursday morning. Police say they instead found Welch and Wagner making meth in the break room kitchen.

The Insurance Institute is leasing the office space from the Michigan Beer & Wine Wholesalers Association. Neither firm's employees are accused of being involved with drugs.

Employees will be working from home until the health department gives them the all-clear to return.

Wow! That woman is 31? Goes to show you what doing drugs will do to you. She is the same age as I am and she looks at least 15 years older.
