A Jackson county sheriff's deputy suffered minor injuries when his cruiser was broadsided Thursday afternoon.

Investigators say the deputy was responding to an emergency using flashing lights and sirens when his cruiser was struck by a car emerging from a side street.

The deputy has not been identified. He was taken to Allegiance Health with a possible broken wrist.

The driver of the other car was an unidentified 82-year-old woman. There's no report of any injuries to her.

The accident remains under investigation, including the viewing of the patrol car's in-car video.

My mother was the driver of the Chevy Impala--our family apologizes for this accident--she was out getting an oil change, she didn't do this on purpose--her reaction time or her senses (hearing or sight(as any person that ages it not what it use to be)..She is done with driving, my mother is slightly injured-her leg--but is going to recover! We are so thankful that my mother is still alive and the police are going to be okay!
