JACKSON - Police say a Detroit man shot and killed a young Jackson man Saturday morning. 21-year-old Marlon Thomas, Jr. was arraigned Monday on charges connected to the shooting death of Rakiesh Brown. The shooting took place Saturday shortly after 11:00 in the morning outside Brown's home in the 100 block of W. Mansion Street in Jackson.
Police say family told them that Brown had borrowed a car, and said he was going to the store. When Brown returned, he had another man in the car with him. They heard shots from the car. Brown had been shot in the chest.
The man in the car fled on foot, but was captured blocks away by police. Police say they do believe Thomas and Brown were acquainted, but the do not know the motive behind the shooting. Police say Thomas did not have a gun on him when they captured him, but they did find a handgun that they believe was used in the shooting.
