Lansing police closed eastbound I-496 for a little more than an hour Friday night because of multiple accidents near Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. Investigators haven't released an official cause, but say the rain made the pavement slippery. There's no word on injuries. I-496 East was closed around 7pm and reopened just after 8pm. • by It's 70 mph on 496! Location: Lansing on Oct 13, 2012 at 03:35 AM
My guess is that this accident was caused by some idiot, who for some unknown reason to me, was still driving 55 mph or less through this area. Or, maybe it was caused by one of those liberal Ralph Nader granola and dried banana crunching green freaks trying to maximize their mileage in their hamster in a exercise ball for a engine eco death trap. If so, congrats, you just caused a major pile up trying to save 26 cents. FYI, the speed limit is 70 mph on 496! (This means you drive at least 75 mph!!) If you are one of these morons who drive slower than the flow of traffic, you are seriously endangering your own life, and everyone around you. If this is you, I hope your hamster has a stroke and you choke on your granola!
