Holiday Fatalities Decline

Preliminary reports from the Michigan State Police show eight people died in traffic crashes over the recent Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

Half of the the deaths involved alcohol. Three were pedestrians.

Fatalities were down from last years toll when 10 people were killed in traffic accidents over the holidays.

More than 200 law enforcement agencies in 35 counties conducted drunk driving enforcement during extra patrols. Enforcement results are expected in the coming weeks.
