High-speed passenger rail is coming to Michigan.
Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood is scheduled to make an announcement in Detroit involving high-speed passenger rail.
LaHood's appearance Monday afternoon in Detroit follows a morning press conference in New York City on high-speed rail.
Local, state and federal officials have been working with the Transportation Department on plans for a high-speed rail system between Dearborn and Kalamazoo.
It was announced last year that Michigan was to receive $150 million in federal funds for infrastructure upgrades and another $8 million to connect the Chicago-Detroit High Speed line to Detroit's New Center station.
