VANDERCOOK LAKE, JACKSON CO. - A man is rushed from Vandercook Lake to Allegiance hospital with a gun shot wound Thursday morning. At about 10:30AM deputies were dispatched to the 5100 block of Sharon Road for a report of a man who had been shot.

It is early in the investigation, but Capt. Brad Piros of the Jackson County Sheriff's Office says they are looking into the possibility that the gunshot victim was shot a few minutes earlier in eastern Calhoun County, and he somehow got to Vandercook Lake where the injury was reported. Capt. Piros also says deputies have detained a "person in interest" who may be involved in the shooting.

For about an hour schools in the Vandercook Lake School District were placed on a "soft lockdown," meaning they locked their doors as a precaution.
