PORT HURON, Mich. (AP) -- A pilot program designed to get people who use pedestrian and water trails directed to local businesses and restaurants is expanding from Marine City and St. Clair to communities in St. Clair, Sanilac, Huron and Tuscola counties.
The Times Herald of Port Huron reports that the expansion was made possible because of a $50,000 grant from the state Department of Environmental Quality for the Trail Towns program.
Dave Struck is planning director of the St. Clair County Metropolitan Planning Commission. He says the program is a way to link communities and business districts with pedalers and paddlers.
The project is expected to begin in January.
