Ingham County taxpayers are getting stuck with a $53,000 tax bill for the grand jury investigation that turned up no evidence of a crime committed by House Speaker Jase Bolger.

As we told you last week, Bolger was cleared of any wrongdoing in former Rep. Roy Schmidt's switch from the Democratic to Republican party just before the filing deadline.

Schmidt ended up losing his seat last November. Bolger barely held his.
