Governor Working with Feds on Health Insurance Exchange

Gov. Rick Snyder is moving toward establishing a partnership between Michigan and the federal government to provide an online market where people without health insurance can shop for private coverage.
Under President Barack Obama's health care plan, each state must decide whether to operate its own program, let the federal government do it for them or form a partnership.
Snyder has said he prefers a state-based system. The state Senate has approved that idea. But the House has delayed action because its Republican majority opposes the Obama approach to health care.
In a statement Friday, Snyder's office said he has applied for a grant that would be a first step toward creating the partnership. A spokeswoman said he's continuing talks with legislators about a possible state market program.

Establishing an exchange is the beginning of the end for Michigan. Our only hope is to be independent of the Federal Government. Tell them to take their Socialism and stuff it. Sure, cities like Detroit would no longer receive Federal tax dollars -- hard earned money from citizens of other states. As a result, we would be the recipients of private sector insurance plans offered by numerous carriers. Without the burdens of heavy-handed Federal mandates, carriers could offer medical insurance coverage at much more affordable premiums. Whenever there's competition in the market, consumers benefit. If the exchange is set up, we will NEVER have the opportunity again to remove ourselves from a Federal Government that has far exceeded its intended purpose.
