PORTAGE, Mich. (AP) -- A 16-year-old girl has been injured after falling over a railing at the top of a Kalamazoo-area shopping mall escalator.
Sgt. Kevin Gleesing of the Portage Police Department tells the Kalamazoo Gazette the girl was riding the rail of an escalator at The Crossroads Mall in Portage when she fell Wednesday afternoon.
Police tell television stations WOOD and WWMT that the fall from the mall's second story appears to have been accidental.
Gleesing says the girl's injuries weren't serious. She was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
