NORWAY, Mich. (AP) -- Students at Norway High School can now recite the Pledge of Allegiance to U.S. flags in classrooms thanks to a Hermansville woman whose granddaughter reached out to her.
WLUC-TV in Marquette reports that the school's classrooms had no flags until Norway High senior Holly Gurgall contacted her grandmother, Ella Gurgall. She then donated about 30 flags to the cause.
Ella Gurgall says she donated the flags in memory of her late husband, who was a Korean War veteran.
