Intersection Now Open

DELTA TWP - Late Friday afternoon, the intersection intersection of Creyts Road and St. Joseph Highway in Delta Township was reopened. It was closed for a couple of hours because of a gas line break.

The break occured shortly after 2 o'clock, when a crew working on fiberoptic cable struck a 5/8 inch gas service line. Consumers Energy is addressing the problem. They have not given an estimate on when the repair will be made, but say it could take several hours..

People at a nearby Speedway gas station and a Quality Dairy were evacuated, but no one has been hurt.

My husband and I went past this area the morning before and saw them working with the machinery. He made the comment that he wondered how they knew where they were supposed to be digging as there were NO flags out for Miss Dig. There were 3 flags down by McDonald's but that's it. hmmm..interesting.
