Foreclosure Settlement Deadline Friday

Certain people who lost their home to foreclosure have until Friday to file for a piece of a national settlement.

The deal covers foreclosures between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2011--- with mortgages provided by Bank of America, Wells Fargo, JPMorgan Chase, Citi and Ally/GMAC.

The companies were found to have "robo-signed" foreclosure-related documents and committed other errors and abuses in their foreclosure processes.

Eligible homeowners can apply for payments up to $2,000.

    I think that consumers should be more responsible about their mortgages. Fortunately, foreclosure rate in the US in going down but there still lots of people struggling with making payments on their loans. Any loan is a serious financial commitment and before you will make a final decision to get in debt it’s worth to get to know how to use loans wisely and avoid sad consequences. Government and some banks are trying to help homeowners to stay in their homes but anyway, everything depends on a borrower and his/her repayment ability and a wish to save a house.
