This picture posted by a viewer on the WILX Facebook page is getting hundreds of likes and comments, and thousands of shares.

The viewer said that he noticed mold at the beverage station at a McDonald’s in Charlotte, and wanted something done about it.

One of the people that saw the post identified herself as an employee of the Barry-Eaton District Health Department, and commented that the Health Department had been in contact with the restaurant in question and that the problem is going to be fixed - and that this McDonald’s will be monitored on a regular basis.

News 10 followed up, and spoke with Greg Cabose, Community Services Supervisor for Barry Eaton County Health Dept.

After seeing the Facebook picture of the Charlotte McDonald's soda fountain, the Barry Eaton County Health Dept contacted the owners of the McDonald's.

He told us that it was determined that that fountain nozzles are cleaned nightly, however the plate above was not checked.

The plate was cleaned immediately.

Cabose says the condition of the soda machine was not a "public health hazard" because the plate did not come in contact with any of the soda. However it will now be receiving regular attention.
