Fatal Fire in Howell

HOWELL, Mich. (AP) -- Authorities say a man is dead following a house fire in downtown Howell.

WHMI-FM reports the man, whose name wasn't immediately known, was pronounced dead at the scene after crews responded about 10:45 p.m. Thursday.

Crews were told a person might be trapped in the home when they responded, so they got inside via a front door and found the man.

The cause of the fire about 45 miles northwest of Detroit is under investigation.
