LENAWEE CO. - The hunt continues for three men who terrorized a Lenawee County family this week.
Law enforcement officials in Lenawee County and Hillsdale County are asking for the public to keep a lookout for signs of three men who tied up and robbed a family, sexually assault a woman in the process.
At approximately 11 o'clock Wednesday night a gunshot was fired through the window of a home on Lime Creek Highway in Medina Township. Three masked men forced open the front door. The intruders tied up and blindfolded a husband and wife in their 30's and two young boys, aged 5 and 8. They ransacked the home, stealing, cash, firearms, electronics, tools and stole the family's pickup truck.
During the hour-long ordeal, one of the suspects sexually assaulted the mother.
After the intruders left, one of the boys was able to free himself and untie the rest of the family.
The mother was taken to the hospital where she was treated and released.
On Thursday the pickup truck stolen from the family was found abandoned and burned in the Hillsdale County Game Preserve between Hudson and Hillsdale. Investigators say they have few clues.
The suspects are described as being of average height, medium build, wearing dark-colored clothing, gloves and full face masks.
The Sheriff's office believes the home was selected at random. The suspects are considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to call the Lenawee County Crime Stoppers at 517-266-6161 or 1-877-8477.
