INGHAM COUNTY - Eastbound I-96 is reopened after being shut down earlier Tuesday morning due to a series of accidents.

An intial accident occured around 8 a.m. near mile marker 122 east of M-52. State police say at least one person was hurt and had to be airlifted. We don't have any more details about that accident.

A second accident happened at about 9:15 a.m., just west of the the first accident. Initial reports from state police indicate three people have been hurt in that accident. A semi tractor trailer is also involved.

Eastbound traffic is being diverted at the Williamston exit. There is no estimation on when the scene will be cleared of vehicles and debris.
