An apartment complex is evacuated and trapped residents are rescued after a fire in East Lansing.
Crews say the fire broke out around 11:30 Saturday night at Capitol Villa apartments on East Grand River.
The East Lansing fire inspector says the fire likely started in a second-floor kitchen.
Four residents on the third floor were trapped before fire crews used a ladder to rescue them.
East Lansing Deputy Chief Steve Alvarado says the fire was mostly contained to the second floor, but surrounding units did suffer some smoke and water damage.
Some parts of the complex are not occupiable.
East Lansing Fire Department was assisted by Lansing and Meridian Township.
