East Lansing Council Member Donald Power Resigns

EAST LANSING - East Lansing city council member Donald Power has resigned. In a statement from East Lansing Cit y Manager George Lahanas, Power's resignation took effect Wednesday.

Lahanas tells News 10 that Power submitted his resignation in the form of a letter, and that letter did not give a reason for the resignation.
News 10 has left a message with Donald Power, inquiring about the reason for the resignation. The call has not yet been returned.

Power was just elected to the council in November of 2011.

The East Lansing City Council will convene a special meeting this coming Tuesday, Aug. 28 at 7:30 p.m. in Courtroom 2 of the East Lansing 54-B District Court, 101 Linden Street. This public meeting will be held to establish a process for filling the vacancy. The East Lansing City Charter requires the City Council to make an appointment within 30 days of the vacancy.
