The man who led police on a chase and hit a truck with children in it last fall is going to prison.
Derrick Lester of Jackson was sentenced Wednesday to at least four years and nine months to ten years in prison for fleeing and eluding, his third such offense.
The 35-year-old was drunk when he bailed from a traffic stop on Blackstone Street in Jackson last November, ran two red lights and crashed into a pickup with a family of four inside.
The whole thing was caught on police dash cam.
Lester also hit a couple of parked cars and a telephone pole before stopping.
No one was seriously hurt in the crashes.
