The Jackson County Sheriff's Office has identified the woman killed in Monday's accident on I-94 in Sandstone Township. It happened around 3:30pm between Blackman and Dearing Roads.
The Sheriff's Office says 40-year-old Kelly Burns-Mack of Chicago, Illinois was headed westbound when she crashed into a semi that was stopped in the right lane, because of an accident further up the highway. Investigators say Burns-Mack didn't stop for the slowed traffic and tried to avoid crashing into the semi, but hit the rear corner of the trailer and went off the highway into a swamp.
Burns-Mack was the only person in the car. She died from her injuries at the accident scene. The semi driver was not hurt.
