Court documents show doctor Douglas M. Bez is accused of improperly taking $2,283,000 over 11 years from a business he was a partner in. This, while he was already making hundreds of thousands of dollars each year as a physician.

He was one of more than a dozen doctors that worked at Lansing Anesthesiologists PC.

However, in February 2013, his partners confronted him and they claim he admitted to "taking additional money" beyond what he was entitled to. The suit also says he had a company credit card he used for personal items.

Adding to the pressure, after more than 20 years of marriage Dr. Bez is in the middle of a divorce. The partners are suing to get their money back before Bez has to split everything with his wife. In the suit lawyers claim the Bez home in Okemos is under water by about $150,000. It also claims the Bezes owe $100,000 in outstanding income taxes. Lawyers say Dr. Bez's 401K plan has between $700,000 and $750,000 before taxes. The couple also has two homes and a couple cars.

Court documents from earlier this month say Dr. Bez makes about $750,000 a year.

Over the phone Dr. Bez's lawyer told News Ten this is an everyday dispute between business partners.

The lawsuit is very early in the process, the defense hasn't even filed a response to the claims yet. It could be up to two years before the suit is finalized.

In the meantime Dr. Bez is currently working as an independent contractor at McLaren's Pain Management Center. McLaren said suit has not affected Bez as a physician or his ability to work.
