DETROIT (AP) -- Detroit police are asking for help in catching the driver of a pickup truck who struck and killed a boy as he took out the trash.
Police say the boy was 10 or 11 and was killed about 1:20 p.m. Sunday on a street near Eastland Shopping Center. They tell the Detroit Free Press that the man stopped about a block away to dislodge a garbage can stuck under his truck, then took off again.
Police say the driver is a white man about 40 years old. They tell WXYZ-TV that he was driving a red Dodge Ram from the early 2000s.
The boy's name wasn't immediately released.
