Deputies Step Up Patrols After Barn Break-Ins

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office is stepping up patrols on the eastern edge of the county after several outbuildings were broken into.

The break-ins happened over the weekend, between the Village of Grass Lake and the Jackson County line.

Undersheriff Chris Kuhl tells News 10 the thieves are targeting buildings that are far away from homes, like barns, sheds and other outbuildings. The thieves are taking hand tools, power tools and other items typically stored outdoors.

Deputies believe the break-ins are happening during the overnight and early morning hours. Undersheriff Kuhl says deputies will be doing extra patrols in the area in hopes of catching someone. People who live the area are also encouraged to keep their eyes open and report any suspicious activity or vehicles.
