Cody Decker and Luke Vaughn, both 17 and from Dewitt, were given a life saving award by the Flagler County Florida sheriff's department Thursday.

"It's a brave thing these boys did," said Flagler County Sheriff Donald Fleming. "This is an outstanding example of our youth in American today."

Decker and Vaughn were spending their spring break in Palm Coast, Florida. While returning a movie rental early Tuesday morning they watched as a speeding Jaguar went out control, smashed into trees and burst into flames.

They had to break a window and peel back a door to rescue the injured couple inside.

Today, family members of the rescued couple attended the awards ceremony to add their thanks.

In closing, Sheriff Fleming said, "If these are they type of teens in this generation, then our future generations are in very good hands."
