They call it the "Happiest 5k on the Planet", and this summer it's coming to Lansing.
We're talking about The Color Run 5k--- a unique race that covers runners in powdered paint as they make their way through the course.
It will be part of the Common Ground Music Festival this summer, thanks to a push from the Greater Lansing Sports Authority. Festival organizers tell us it was a no-brainer once they learned what it was about.
"As a music and arts festival, we're always looking for what's trending, what people like to do, what's creative," says Kevin Meyer, Festival Director for Common Ground. "Once we saw what a great fun, fastest-growing running event in the world this thing is, we went 'are you kidding me... yeah, it makes sense, I mean what a great event for Lansing, it looks like an incredibly good time."
The Color Run 5k will take place Saturday, July 13 at 9am in front of the State Capitol. Runners will cross the finish line at Adado Riverfront Park , the site of Common Ground.
