Coat Drive Held at Lansing-area Shopping Center

LANSING TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- A Volunteers of America Michigan-sponsored coat drive is being held this weekend at a Lansing-area shopping center.

All donated items are given to Volunteers of America, which distributes them to needy children and adults in the area.

Volunteer Karen Hassankhani says a highlight each year is a visit from an anonymous couple who drop off more than 50 newly purchased coats.

Hassankhani says Saturday was no exception. The couple dropped off 57 new coats.
