Clemency Reversed

DETROIT (AP) -- Gov. Jennifer Granholm has reversed her decision to commute the life sentence of a Detroit-area man convicted of a fatal stabbing in 1988, keeping him behind bars for now.
The reversal comes after objections from relatives of the victim, Pietro "Pete" Puma, a 19-year-old from Detroit. He was killed during a robbery.
Granholm spokeswoman Liz Boyd said Friday that the Democratic governor is sending the case back to the state parole board. Any decision to commute Matthew Makowski's sentence would be up to the next governor, Republican Rick Snyder.
Boyd says Granholm appreciated hearing from members of the Puma family, which contacted her office Thursday.
Puma's brother Anthony Puma tells The Associated Press he is "ecstatic" and grateful to Granholm for reversing the decision.

flip flop flip flop. I was appalled that she even thought of giving the guy clemency, but this is her standard MO. If there is negative public opinion, reverse course even if it is detrimental to the future.

If it WASN'T for the outrage from the victim's family our outgoing Canadian Governess (by the way, the female tense of "Governer" is "Governess"...sorry to all you PC folks but that's called proper grammar)would have let this guy free. He helped plan the robbery of that poor guy who was killed...he's just as guilty as the guy who stabbed him!! He can rot in prison as far as I'm concerned.
