"The saddest thing is our kids raised money to do this playground," said McGlone. "It's kind of their place."

At New Covenant Church and School in Delta Township, the playground acts as a gathering place for students and the surrounding neighborhood. But lately, it's attracted something else...vandalism.

The latest case was discovered Friday morning. Among the graffiti, the numbers '666', a pentagram and several upside down crosses. A school truck also had its mirror broken. Pastor Fred McGlone has seen it all before.

"This has been on the heels of a number of incidents," said McGlone, who is Principal of the New Covenant Christian School.

In total, the school has been hit by vandals about 20 times over the past year, seeing everything from spray paint to wood panels completely ripped off a structure resembling Noah's Ark.

"The saddest thing is our kids raised money to do this playground," said McGlone. "It's kind of their place."

It started when the staff closed off the bottom of the Ark replica, after finding empty liquor bottles and other adult materials. Since then, Dep. John Davidson has filed several reports and even though he has no suspects currently, Davidson is confident his office will catch the vandals.

"We've set up a couple different things," he said. "We've talked with staff there and there's going to be some adjustments to schedules and some other things."

New Covenant is hoping some grainy photos of the suspects, taken by a custodian, will help. In the meantime, the students are responding in the best way they know how.

"The kids in the school are praying for the people that do this because they know that hurting people, hurt people," said McGlone.
