It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the Capital City---

Crews are putting the final touches on the State Christmas Tree, which will be lit during Friday's Silver Bells in the City event.

Thousands of people are expected to attend.

The event starts at 5pm with the Silver Bells Fun Run and also includes a shopper's village, an electric light parade, a tree lighting ceremony, fireworks and live performances by Radio Disney stars Macy Kate and IM5.

Several streets around the Capitol will be closed Friday to accommodate the event. Parking will be free in all city-owned ramps, along with the LCC parking ramp and several State of Michigan parking lots.

CATA buses will have a special Silver Bells Route for just 50-cents round trip. A detailed schedule of events and other information can be found by clicking the link below.

Jackson's annual Christmas Parade is also set for Friday night. It will start at 6pm on West Cortland Street. Once that's over, kids can visit with Santa Claus at First United Methodist Church on Michigan Avenue. There will also be a free screening of Jim Carrey's "The Grinch" at the Michigan Theatre immediately following the parade.
